Murphy’s History
See Halifax in a fun, unique, and memorable way with Murphy’s Cable Wharf! As a premiere destination in Atlantic Canada, we provide our guests with authentic maritime experiences. Murphy’s Cable Wharf, Halifax’s largest Tour Boat & Restaurant Operator, is situated at the foot George St, on Cable Wharf on the historic Halifax waterfront. Since 1983, Murphy’s has grown and expanded to offer a diverse range of tour options, dining experiences, event venues and unique gifts. Join us for nature and whale watching, sightseeing and sailing tours, deep sea fishing, party and dinner cruises, fine dining, and shopping. Murphy’s remains a family owned and operated business that prides itself on professional, friendly, and personal service.
Captain Murphy Gerard Murphy was born and raised in Halifax Nova Scotia. He began Murphy’s Cable Wharf with his sailing vessel the Mar which he purchased from the Pusser’s Rum Company. Mr. Murphy passed down both his keen interest in sailing and his company to his children. Over the years the Captain and his family have expanded their business to include 8 other tour boats, a restaurant, gift stores, and several ticketing locations.
